Explore the Natural Wonders of Plitvice Lakes National Park

Private tour with a minivan

The Plitvice Lakes National Park, located in the central part of Croatia, is one of the country’s most visited tourist destinations, attracting millions of visitors from all over the world every year. It was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1979 for its extraordinary and uncommon beauty as a natural wonder. It was established as Croatia’s first national park back in 1949 to protect its breath-taking natural beauty – a phenomenon of karst hydro-geology.

The Plitvice Lakes are famous for its stunning system of 16 lakes, which are the park’s main attraction. These lakes are situated on different levels and are interconnected by a series of waterfalls and cascades. The lakes change colour from turquoise to green, grey, or blue. These lakes were formed by the natural process of travertine barriers deposition and create a fantastic symphony of waterfalls and surrounding woodlands full of wildlife.

You can explore this extraordinary water and karst phenomenon by walking along the eight-kilometre trails and wooden bridges or by taking a boat or electric train.

The National Park sightseeing tour lasts for about three and a half hours.
